Design/build in collaboration with JACA Architects. 15k sf ground up construction of new headquarters and food pantry distribution center.
South Shore Community Action Council
This nonprofit was critical services to low-income individuals and families on the South Shore of Massachusetts from multiple locations, which increased operating costs and reduced the efficiency of services to their clients. They needed to find a facility that would allow them to consolidate services under one roof. In late 2012, SSCAC purchased 71 Obery Street St., Plymouth, a 2.2 acre lot at foreclosure auction.
Curtis Construction was engaged to design/build SSCAC’s new headquarter’s building in partnership with JACA Architects. After demo of the site’s existing buildings, Curtis constructed a new 15,000 square foot facility.
The project puts all of SSCAC’s administrative and operational services under one roof and included an elevator, which provides access to the basement’s 7,400 square-foot food pantry distribution center.
Curtis Construction Company was able to complete the project within an accelerated schedule in order to meet the forthcoming fuel assistance heating season and the launch of the food distribution warehouse in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
By combining the essential services SSCAC provides into one central location, they are now able to better serve local individuals and families in need.
