Curtis Construction was hired as Construction Manager in 2015 and helped to develop a budget and address any potential construction issues that could arise during the complicated process of modernizing a historic building.
Maintaining the building’s historic character was of utmost importance and every effort was made to preserve original architectural details. The building’s stained glass, moldings, staircases and masonry were refurbished as needed, and its plumbing, electrical, safety and mechanical systems were updated to meet today’s current Building Codes. Era-aesthetic and energy efficient windows replaced all of the original ones, and all of the units were insulated to reduce energy consumption.
Working with the architect, Campbell Ellsworth – Ellsworth Associates, Inc., Curtis stayed within the $3.2 million budget and schedule.
